BBQ Season Starts This Weekend
Memorial weekend means BBQing, I don’t know why but it does. Maybe it’s because Memorial weekend seems to be the unofficial start of summer.
Here it’ll be in the 90’s, at least, so that means the boys will be outside playing in the pool and then jumping on the trampoline soaking wet.
It also means my mom and sis will be here and since none of us are completely ready to give up meat we'll be BBQing organic grass fed beef.
Cows were designed to eat grass not grains. Just like we’re healthier and at our best when we eat food we’re supposed to, so are cows. Grass fed beef has a much lower saturated fat ratio and a much higher omega 3 ratio (almost as much as fish).
Being as its super good for you it’s also super hard to find (why does it always seem to work out that way?). I get mine from Chaffin Family Orchards at (wait for it…) the Chico farmers market. If you live in or near a big city you may be able to find it at your local health food store and there’s always buying it online. But seriously, go to the farmers market near you and check there first.
Our favorite way to end a BBQ is to grill up some pineapple rings and top them with ice cream. Trust me, you haven’t lived until you’ve had grilled pineapple. They're sweet and smoky and just heavenly. Admittedly I can only have a few bites, but those bites are so worth the allergy attack.
