Father's Day Green Gift Ideas
Father’s Day is next Sunday so I thought I might give you some green gift alternatives to the obligatory (wow, spelled that right on the first try!) tie.
Does anyone actually give their dad a tie? I’ve never given my dad a tie and my boys have never given their dad a tie. Is it just one of those weird myths that gets passed down through the years?
Anyways, ties aren't the point, the point is I was trying to come up with something a little more useful.
I think most of the things listed in the Mother’s Day gift guide would also work well for dad. But if that was all I had, it wouldn’t be very interesting.
I found some fun things on greenfeet that might do the trick. Man I love that site.
Like the bike chain bottle opener for one. As long as I’ve known Todd (15 yrs) he has always had a bottle opener on his key chain, even now that he hardly ever drinks “just in case”.
Another one I like is the recycled circuit board business card holder. It doesn’t have to be used to hold business cards; it also works well for holding a little cash, ID, and a credit card or two.
One of the things I like about both of these is that they're made form recycled objects. Items made form recycled materials use 50-90% less energy to make. So not only are you getting him something useful and unique, you're helping the environment. Good deal.
Anyways, there’s a lot more ideas on the site, one of which was too weird to write, so take a moment and check them out.
However, if you feel you just have to give your dad a tie, give him the one Ideal Bite suggests from Uncommon Goods. He might like this one.
And if you happen to find anything else out there, let me know. And remember, the weirder the better.
