Honey, Wash Away My Worries

So after experiencing the benefits of the honey face scrub I wanted to see if there was something that I could use every day.

I googled “honey face cleanser” and found a video on how to make one. I love the internet.

It’s really easy, all you need is honey (I think local is best), vegetable glycerin and castile soap. Nili (the woman in the video) also uses 10 drops of an essential oil but I skipped that part.

The honey has antimicrobial properties and antioxidants to help fight free radical damage, the glycerin attracts moisture to your skin and the castile soap helps break up dirt and make-up on your skin.

Here’s how you make it:

• 1/2 cup honey
• a little less then cup 1/2 cup vegetable glycerin
• 1 tablespoon castile soap
• Then just blend the ingredients together and put the mixture into a container with a lid or a bottle with a pump and you’re done.

See, so easy! You can either apply it with your fingers or use a sea sponge. I use my fingers because they’re free, but you'd probably get more exfoliation with the sea sponge.

I really like it, but if you want something even easier, just use honey. I found a lot of people who say they use it by itself with great results. Honey alone won’t get make-up off so you’ll need to use a make-up remover first.

This is definitely the greenest face cleanser I’ve found, so I’m pretty happy.

This is such a great recipe! Will have to add it to my natural cosmetic class recipe collection.

I'm really loving the idea of something this natural. My oldest daughter is struggling with blackheads and I'm hoping maybe this will solve the problem and help me avoid buying those chemical-filled ones at the store.

This may be TMI, but my blackheads cleared up almost instantly when I switched to this and the scrub!

Wow, this is so cool! I just came across your blog and am loving it :-)
Who would of thought sweet honey could clean your face? You mentioned it doesn't remove makeup, do you mean eye makeup or even facial powder? Or is that only if you use honey without the vegetable glycerin and castile soap added?
Thank you for sharing!

Thanks so much! Honey by itself won't remove make-up. And I just use water and a cloth to remove eye make-up (I only wear mascara & blush), I don't think it's a good idea to use this mix on your eyes. I know castille soap can irritate your eyes and I think the others would as well.
Thanks for stopping by!

Using a mix of one part vinegar and one part water (or just an ice cube!) can be a great astringent for your skin to help close up those pores too! Love using a honey face mask! mmm, I can still smell it! :)

I'm going to try this recipe.

But i don't know how to use it.
Dose it lather well?

Hi e, glad you stopped by! No, the cleanser doesn't lather. I put it on just barely damp shin & kind of massage it in. Let me know how you like it!
