Is Being A Vegetarian Enough?
Something I've been thinking about since writing To Veg Or Not To Veg and while packing up our house is if I’m thinking about giving up meat because of the wastefulness of the farming industry, then it seems I should give up all things animal, right?
I mean, vegetarians still eat dairy and eggs which come from the same animals causing the problems that are making me consider stop eating meat.
You’d still need dairy farms for yogurt, cheese and ice cream and you’d still need chicken farms for eggs.
I buy raw milk and raw milk cheese from grass-fed cows and eggs that are from pastured raised chickens. I’m even looking into how to make my own yogurt from raw milk because it’s so much better than even organic milk. The milk and eggs are from smaller farms with animals raised in a more sustainable manner, so is it ok to keep eating those things?
The meat I buy is from the same farms so is it ok or is still not environmentally friendly because even though it’s only grass that the cows eats, it’s still a lot of grass, plus all the water they need.
I imagine you don’t need as many cows and chickens if you’re just collecting the dairy and eggs, but that’s still more then you would need if you didn’t consume any animal products.
It’s just something that’s twisting around in my head and I thought maybe you could help me out.
What are your thoughts on it?
But the biggest question of all is, am I really ready to give up all things animal.
Am I ready to take that big green leap, I don't know.

not eating animal products is one of the best ways to save the earth. animal agriculture uses a lot more resources and it is not energy efficient. not to mention you will feel a lot better.
