It May Be Recycled, But It's Still Soft

Do you use toilet paper? How about facial tissue or paper towels?

I’m sure you do, so today’s Easy Eco Idea is to switch from virgin toilet paper, facial tissue and paper towels to ones made from recycled paper.

As I mentioned in “What would you be willing to do to save the trees” by using recycled toilet paper instead of virgin toilet paper you could save 470,000 trees.

Treehugger has a video posted of Bill Hemmer from Fox News doing a blind test with his hands to see if he can tell the difference between virgin (supposed to be softer) and recycled (supposed to be harder) toilet paper. He picked the recycled toilet paper as the softer one.

You can find a recycled version of just about any paper product you use and now because of the “green” movement, you can find these products at nearly every store.

Also be sure to look for the phrases "unbleached", "processed chlorine-free" or "totally chlorine free" to make sure they’re good and green.

The brands I tend to buy most are Seventh Generation and Trader Joe’s brand and I’ve been very happy with each.

If you have another brand that you like I’d love to hear about it.
