It's Cool Being Easy Eco
Hot August days at least have cooler August nights. This leads me to today’s Easy Eco Tip, keeping cool for less.
Opening the windows at night and leaving them open while you’re asleep is a great way to cool the house down. Then the next day you don’t need to turn the air conditioner on as soon.
Air conditioners are huge energy suckers and should only by used if you really need it, I think. We keep our A/C set to 80* and have all the ceiling fans going. With the ceiling fans on it really does make it feel a lot cooler, about 7 degrees cooler than it really is.
At night it’s usually about 79* in the house and in the morning after having left the windows open it’s usually around 71*. The A/C than doesn’t come on till around 3 p.m. and once the sun goes down we just open up the windows again. It’s a good cycle.
So give it try and let me know how it goes.
