Save Money, Save The Planet, Drink Tap Water

As many of you know I am not a fan of bottled water. I’ve written at least 1, 2, 3 posts on bottled water and water in general.

I think bottled water is a waste of money and a huge waste of resources. It’s probably one of my biggest soap box issues.

So today’s Easy Eco Idea is to stop paying for what you can for free out of your tap.

If you’re worried about your tap water because your city chlorinates or you have a well, you can buy a water filter. You can get one for around $30 that attaches right to your faucet.

Bottled water costs between $1-$2 where as tap water cost only a few cents per glass. And it is truly no better for you then water you can get out of your faucet.

All you need is a good stainless steel water bottle and a water filter. Once you get into the habit of filling up your bottle it becomes second nature.

We have a faucet mount filter and fill up 2 40 oz Klean Kanteen bottles that we keep in the fridge. This way we have cold convenient water whenever we want it. We also have a bottle for each of us for when we go out.

I swear, taking and using your own water bottle really is easy and you'll feel so much better about the waste you didn't create and the oil you didn't use to make a bottle of water.

Also, there is a new documentary about bottled water coming out called Tapped that to me looks like an absolute must see. But that may be because I’m a zealot. ;)
