Today’s Easy Eco Idea is about reducing some of the clutter that comes into your home and in the process, saving more trees.

A great place to start is to stop receiving junk mail. You can sign-up with Mailstopper and for $20 a year they will remove your name from junk mail and catalog lists as well as plant 5 trees in your name. I use them and have been very happy with the results. Plus, I love knowing that I’m not only saving trees but helping plant them as well.

Nearly every company and bank now has a paperless statements option. All you do is sign-up and then make an online account and check it there. Now you’ll get an email when your statement is ready and if you do need a paper copy of your statement, you can just print out the part you need.

Along with paperless statements is paperless billing. For things like cell phones and cable you can set it up so that the bill is automatically paid with your credit card and credit card payments can be made online at the card company’s sight. Also, many banks have a bill paying feature where you enter the info for the companies, select a payment date and then the bank pays them for you.
