Detox Is Done Dude

I finished up my detox on Monday and am very happy to report I did really well!

It was definitely hard because I really couldn’t eat anything packaged. Also, it turns out that I can’t even do gluten-free oats which I thought I could do. So instead I was eating a lot of brown rice and even tried Quinoa. I was eating a lot more fruits and veggies though so that’s good.

The only packaged "snack" food I had was rice cakes that where lightly salted, good times.

Well, that's not entirely true, with about 5 days left I discovered Lara Bars which are whole food bars. As in the only ingredients are food. They're all made with nuts but I found that I could actually eat them which was pretty exciting. And even better, they where actually really good!

I also found that if you're following a diet like this the weight will fall off of you. I had already lost some weight while I was sick. Not really surprising since all I eat for 10 days was rice, apples and grapes. But I figured it would come back once I started eating again.

Pre-sickness I was eating a lot of homemade granola and yogurt, after though I wasn’t eating any at all. So I think that’s where the rest of the weight came from. Now I didn’t do any of this with the intent to lose weight, but losing it hasn’t been too terrible.

While on the detox I was supplementing with ClearVite-SF which is made from rice protein. So even during the 7 days that I wasn’t eating meat I was still getting protein.

Never during the 3 weeks did I feel tired which is actually pretty unusual for me. I plan on using the ClearVite-SF even now that I’m done in my morning smoothie because it really just made me feel good.

Detoxes are like Spring cleaning for the body. You’re getting rid of toxins and helping your body recharge. I’m glad I did it and I will definitely do it again.

I would like to point out that if you ever consider doing a detox where you take out things like flour, wheat or sugar you will probably go through withdrawls. Way back when I first started my gluten-free diet I went through it and even a little bit during this detox. Once you get past those first couple of days though you do feel a lot better.

Wow, this is far too weird! lol. We just did a detox too! And I also posted on it today. But we didn't do it as long as you. Maybe next time though. I wanted to ease everyone into the first one, lol

I'm a big fan of detoxing! (And I'm planning on starting my own next week once my husband goes back to work.)

I'm glad to hear it went well for you! At the beginning it's always a very intimidating thought, but in hindsight it was never as bad. LOL!

Sheila - My cleanse was just me, there's no way I could have gotten my boys to do this. ;) I do think my husband would have though if I had asked him.

Jac - This was my first one and I'm definitely a fan now!

sounds like your body responded well to it. not eating packaged stuff is hard at first but way better for the environment, right? when i first started eating raw i noticed a huge reduction in garbage.

i hope you try a raw food cleanse sometime! my friend penni has a site called rawfoodrehab.com which is very helpful for those trying a raw diet.

Thanks for the info bitt! I don't know if I'll ever go totally raw, but I would like it to be a much bigger part of my diet.
