They Go Together Like Trick Or Treating And Organic Chocolate Milk
So on Twitter this app has started going around where if you send someone a "trick" or "treat" Tetra Pak will donate 10 cents to the World Wildlife Fund.
I’ve been sending them to everyone because it’s just about the easiest way to earn money for an organization that I totally love.
Admittedly I didn’t really pay much attention to the link talking about giving chocolate milk in cartons as treats this Halloween because the guys won’t drink milk plain or chocolate. But I do like the idea, I mean do you know what's in candy, me either. I think the only people who know have degrees in chemistry and I don't think their going to be explaining the ingredients any time soon.
Anyways, after sending a bunch of these things out I got an email telling me a bit more about the app and where else I could find it.
Here's a little about the campaign in their own words:
” This campaign is all about encouraging moms to opt for handing out chocolate milk in single-serve cartons this Halloween, as opposed to the typical junk. This is healthier for kids and better for the environment – Tetra Pak cartons already have one of the lowest environmental footprints within the packaging industry. The campaign is backed by Hershey’s and Organic Valley, as well as Tetra Pak and World Wildlife Fund.”
The Facebook app allows you to view which of your friends are playing.
On Twitter there's a ranking of the scariest Twitterers.
On the Web, users can upload pics of their friends – then the pics are uploaded on the bodies of dancing monsters. When your friends open the e-mail, they see dancing monsters (with the faces of their friends), ready to trick or treat.
I've tried all 3 and they're all great but the email one is definitely the funnest! I really enjoyed finding pics of all of us and it was perfect for my family because you could choose up to 5 monsters and with my mom, that's how many "monsters" are in my family.
While the idea of giving out healthier treats this Halloween is certainly a wonderful idea, the 10 cent donation is especially great. It's easy, fun and free for you so go find the app on Twitter, Facebook, or send it in an email. Even better, do all 3 and do them a lot!

Oh gosh, seems like a fab idea - I really HATE the tetrapaks though!!
They only PRETEND to be green, and in truth aren't!!
Glass = 100% recyclable.
Tetrapaks: nowhere near!
(Please read the post on MyZeroWaste about tetrapaks..)
They are so full of greenwashing ****sh** it boggles the mind!!
While milk with chocolate/cocoa may be only slightly better than a Mars bar (read the labels for any additives though, probably it's not organic and some milk - and some chocolate! - are produced in iffy ways!) I'd stay away from tetrapaks if possible!! (Locally, here in Slovenia they get burnt in an incinerator, I hear.. cause nobody wants to take them for recycling..-?!)
