Write To Unite For Climate Change

Today is Blog Action Day 2009 and more than 7,000 bloggers are writing to unite today about climate change.

Now climate change used to be called global warming but because people made a big stink about the fact the earth doesn’t actually seem to be getting warmer it was changed.

Anyways, there are some really great sites out there that will tell you all about climate change and what you can do to help. This isn’t one of them.

Well that’s not exactly true; I think most of the things I write about can help slow down the climate change. But I’m not going to go into a big long thing about what climate change is and why you should care. I am going to take a few minutes of your time and tell you what I think about climate change and why I care though. Then at the end I’ll list some sites that are definitely worth checking out for the previously mentioned what and why.

I know that climate change is happening because there are more and more people making more and more trash, driving more and more cars more and more places all in less and less space.

I know that The Story of Stuff while talking about the true cost of products also illustrate why there’s more pollution.

I know that we are damaging the earth and we need to change are ways by implementing the the 3 R's more regularly into our lives.

You may not know these things or think that I don’t really know them either, but I think if you’re here and still reading this then maybe you do know or at least think that you might like to.

But even with all that said, I also know that no matter what we do or how badly we beat up the earth, it will still be here long after we’re gone.

Which brings me to the why; while I know that the earth will still be here and will recover, I don’t want to leave that kind of earth for my boys and the children that they will have.

I want them to be able to take a deep breath when they go outside, to visit places like Yosemite or become explores and see real polar bears instead of just watch movies about them.

I do things like Zero Waste Week, Bash the Trash and Ditch the Disposables because yes, they help the planet and the planet can use all the help it can it, but mostly because I want my boys to grow up not thinking about it. I want things like recycling, buying food and other products with as little packaging as possible and reusing everything to be common place, not something you do to "be green".

We all have our own reasons for doing what we’re doing so why not share them?

Some sites I enjoyed about climate change are Explore the Climate Orb, Global Warming Facts and Figures, The Top 100 Effects of Global Warming (no more guacamole!?), and 10 Solutions for Climate Change.

My why are my awesome relatives and their health - they live in a chemically polluted city and have had enough health problems without my trash in the air (hburnt in an incinerator) already!! :)

Love to you all!!

Keep on rocking!! :)

Thanks so much!!

That's awful that they burn garbage! But I guess there's only so much land to put it on. Definitely a good reason to go zero waste!

I wish being "green" was common place, I wish the term didn't even exist, but since it does I try to do my part by spreading the word. I think too many people don't think about the impact the individual has on our planet!
