Holiday Hankies

As I mentioned I'm making most of my Christmas gifts this and one of the things I'm making are hankies with my Easy Eco To Go logo on them.

I'm actually not making these for everyone because to be quite honest I think most people in my family still feel the way I used to about hankies. As in, ew gorss. And I don't want to give gifts that people won't like even if I think they're darn cool.

So anyways, for these hankies I'm trying to take it one green step further and make them out of old tees that have stains, holes or anything else that makes them unwearable.

I'm actually really digging this idea and trying to force myself not to just go through Todd's shirts and find things that mostly fit the criteria just so I can cut them up.

This first set I made are actually for a top secret project that I can't tell you about right now, but is very cool and I can't wait 'til I can tell you about it!

Anyways, these ones were made out of a shirt that Tyler got ice cream on and I somehow missed when washing it, so it ended up in the dryer setting the stain forever.

For the logo I used some iron-on transfer paper that my mom had. Next time I'm going to trim more of the excess blank parts off, but other then that I think they came out pretty well.

Now the thing about using t-shirts is that they are not a perfect square shape. That means I'm definitely going to have scrap pieces left over, so what I think I'm going to do is make some patchwork hankies out of the scraps.

And yes, this time when I say “me” I really mean ”me” and not my mom. She's got lots to do with her own Christmas gifts.

Either that or the scraps will become very tiny hankies. Which is probably more likely knowing me.

These hankies are really easy to make and you could put any design on them you like; favorite animals or the persons initials for example. Or you could take this same idea and make reusable napkins instead.

So that's one of the three presents I'm making this year, stop by to find out how the other 2 go and for some of my fave green shopping sites.

So I don't get lonely.

And since your here, why not enter to win a reusable lunch kit from New Wave Enviro!

Neat Idea...but as I look at the pic of you at the sewing machine I'm thinking...MY! WhAT A COOL CHAIR!

Thanks! I actually won that chair when my oldest (10) was about 2. It's from STOKKE and goes from a high chair for an infant that can hold them self up to an adult chair. The seat & foot rest both adjust. I love it, in case you can't tell! ;)

Lovely...I did this a couple of weeks ago with some old PJ bottoms that were made from t-shirty material and they're sooo soft and nice to use - although I keep mine to myself, sadly I don't know anyone who would appreciate a festive hankie!
