Snowed In
You may have noticed (I hope) the lack of post yesterday, well besides the weekly trash update. As surprising as this may be it was not do to my famous procrastination. No, it was because Placerville had the most snow it's probably ever had.
The paper had been talking about a big storm coming this way and that there would be snow down to 2500 feet in the Sierras, Placerville is at about 2200 feet.
No big deal was what most of us thought. It snows here once or twice a season so we'd probably get 3-5 inches which would be a lot for this area. Yeah, we got about 1 ½. Todd talked to one of his coworkers who has lived here all his life and he said he has never seen this much snow. The whole town pretty much closed down. And needless to say, we had no power.
Luckily for us our house has a gas fireplace and stove, so we had heat in the living room (heaven help you if you had to use the bathroom!) and we could heat water for coffee and make spaghetti on the stove.
Snow days are very different for grown ups then they are for kids. Grown ups worry about how long the food will last in the fridge, what we'll do at night if we still don't have central heat and how the heck we'll make it down that steep a$$ hill.
Kids on the other hand only worry about one thing, how long can I stay outside before I loose all feeling in my hands and feet.
Yesterday we chose to be kids and I got to see my husband make his very first snowman. It was a good day.
Oh, and I also learned that our dogs love snow. Talk about hilarious.
