More GreenSmart Goodness - Review & Giveaway

Ok, ready for giveaway #2 from GreenSmart?

I knew before the box came in the mail that I was going to be doing a giveaway for GreenSmart's Bottles 2 Bags laptop sleeve, but when it came I was shocked at how big the box was. It seemed entirely unnecessary for just a laptop sleeve.....and then I opened the box.

Inside was also a neogreene lunch bag with a note saying “let's do a giveaway for both”. Hehe.

What's neogreene you ask? Well, it's basically a greener version of neoprene, that squishy, smooth, slightly stretchy fabric that smells like paint fumes. Because neoprene is so tough only the most aggressive of glues could be used to hold it together which contain all kinds of potentially harmful chemicals like toluene & formaldehyde. Hence the hinky smell.

Now neogreene on the other hand uses:

water based chemistry
- no solvent adhesives
- no VOC
- no chlorine
- no formaldehyde
- uses 25% less petroleum byproducts
- uses 25% less energy to produce

So basically, you get all the squishy, smooth, stretchiness without all the noxious toxins. Perfect.

GreenSmart has 3 different style lunch bags; Sifaka, Javan and Margay. Which are actually the names of 3 endangered species. It turns out many products are named after endangered animals and in turn 10% of their profits are donated to the World Wildlife Fund. Very cool.

I received the Sifaka bag which has 2 zip pockets, one large main pocket and one smaller pocket.

I made Todd take a lunch (that he brought home since he comes home for lunch) so that we could test out the lunch bag. I made him a sandwich, apple, trail mix & chips. This way I could see if the sandwich stayed cold (the bag is supposed to keep cold foods cold & warm foods warm). Todd loves to help me with these things.

When he got home and took his lunch out I asked him how his sandwich was. He said “Fine.”

I said “Not how it tastes, is the meat and cheese still cold?”

He said “Oh, yeah it is.”

Yeesh. Anyways, I also really liked the handle length, they're long enough to fit over your shoulder; it's really light, unlike the other insulated bag that Todd has; and it kept the food cold without needing to add an ice pack.

Now that we've got that out of the way, how about we get to the giveaway!

One lucky reader will win a GreenSmart neogreene lunch bag. The contest will run from Thursday January 28, 2010 thru Monday February 4, 2010 at 11:59 pm PST.

My favorite GreenSmart products are the neogreen wine bottle koozies. We love going on picnics on the beautiful Natchez Trace so the wine bottle koozie is perfect. My hubby takes his lunch to work and I can't wait for him to try the new lunch bags.

I LOVE the NeoGreene laptop sleeve! What an awesome product. Is it weird that I get all giddy and excited when I see an item that is made from recycled goods? :P
