More Lovelies From Lunapads

So last week I was sick. The kind of sick where you think “I’d rather listen to my kids fight for 4 hours straight then feel like this.” Yeah it was that bad.

Finally on Friday I was feeling better. Oh glorious day, I could eat again. And then BAM, my period starts. Boy did I hit the lottery of lame or what?

The only good thing about that was that I was finally able to try out the Lunapanties I had received as part of the Green and Clean Mom Blog Tour. Teehee, I’m part of a blog tour!

Sorry, back to the panties. I received 2 pairs, a bikini style and a hipster style, and each came with an extra panty liner. I remembered seeing these on the Lunapads sight when I gave up disposable pads for reusable ones from Lunapads during Ditch the Disposables. While I was curious about them my adventure meter had pretty much tapped out at switching to pads I had to wash. So when I got the opportunity to try out a couple of (free) pairs I was stoked. That’s a little weird isn’t it?

The Lunapanties basically have a liner added right into them. They also have little fabric straps in them so you can add an additional liner. This way you can either use them like a pad and change out the liner as needed, or if you’re just spotting you can just wear the panties and not have to worry about ruining your fave pair.

Now I don’t know if you can tell from the picture but the padded area is very long. When I first saw them I was a little wary and wondered how comfortable they would be. My periods are pretty light so I just use the small liner pads, so the padded area looked huge to me.

I tried the bikini cut Lunapanties first, I added my liner, slipped them on and guess what, they’re actually quite comfortable! They weren’t at all diaper like which is what I was afraid of. Score! I tried the hipsters next and I really loved them! I think I just prefer that cut better because I thought they were even more comfy then the bikinis.

I don’t know about you but I have ruined my fair share of panties thanks to Aunt Flo so I kinda like the idea of special period panties. I could see other times that these could come in handy, like when you're pregnant to name one, but I think that may take us above and beyond TMI.

So anyways, I like them and am very glad I got the chance to try them out.

Right now you can get 15% off any purchase of $50 or more over at Lunapads with code EcoMom10, that might make it worth trying them hmmm?

Also, if you’re on Twitter, on May 12th at 7 PST there will be an #ecowed (eco Wednesday) Twitter party and it will be all about Lunapanties. You can ask questions and probably get more info then you may really want about pads, liners and Aunt Flo. I’ll definitely be there so maybe I’ll “see” you there.

INteresting. I'm not sure I'd use these myself. Probably because it's so foreign to me. But totally interesting concept.

Ok so I have seen Glad Rags and all the natural sponge tampons and the diva cups but have never seen these. Well, good info but I am not a pad girl. At all. I can't hang :)

Wow, I've never heard of these before. I'm not sure if I could get along with them, but it's still totally worth checking out. You've got a fantastic blog by the way. Love it, and grabbed your button for my own green blog too. Keep up the good work - peace. :)
