SodaStream And Me {Giveaway}

So I got asked to review and do a giveaway for a SodaStream soda maker. Well you know how much I like reviews and giveaways so naturally I said yes.

I was told I could choose any SodaStream soda machine to try. Sweet! They make 3 different BPA-free plastic bottle varieties and one that has glass bottles. Can you guess which one I chose? That’s right the glass bottle option called the Penguin.

As great as BPA-free plastic is, it’s still plastic. I think that if your choices are conventional plastic or BPA-free, you should choose BPA-free. If your choices are BPA-free or glass you should choose glass, if you can. If glass isn’t right for you than you rock on with your BPA-free plastic and feel good!

So I picked out my Penguin, which comes with two 1 liter bottles, the mixing base and 2 Co2 containers, sent my email with my flavor choices, and then I remembered something. We don’t actually drink soda. Oops.

See the boys have never been interested and just stick with water and occasionally apple juice. I’ve never cared one way or the other for the taste, generally too sweet for my liking, and then stopped buying it because of the plastic issues, single serve aluminum never made me happy either. Because of this my mom and Todd became non-soda drinkers as well, they love that I’m the one that does the grocery shopping.

So what was it that drew me to the SodaSteam and made me want to give one away? Well, I think the biggest thing was that I know people are going to drink soda (even green people) and by making your own at home you can drastically cut down on home much waste you create.

You know the main point I try and make here is to go at your own pace and besides, even I get a hankering for something bubbly and fizzy every now and again. ;)



Like I said, soda’s not so much my thing but with the SodaStream you can make more than just soda, they also have a product called MyWater Essence which is like flavored water. And what I really love is that you can control how much carbonation is in it. I could never drink soda out of a can because the intense carbonation made my eyes water. No, I’m not kidding. But with the SodaStream you can make it as fizzy, or not, as you want. Cool.

It was so easy and so fast to make. All you do is add water to the bottle, place it in the tank, pump the handle until it makes a whistling noise, take the bottle out, add your flavor mix and your done.



I was really impressed, because if it’s not easy, count me out and I’d hazard a guess that some of you feel the same way.



I’m looking forward to using this at our next family gathering, which I’m sure will be soon. I always end up being the one bringing drinks and while my group doesn’t drink soda much that’s not the case for everyone else. So I always have to buy those 2 liter bottles, which always makes me cringe a little. Now I can bring the Penguin and just make the soda when we get there and even make more if the 2 bottles run out. I think my cousins boys will get a real kick out of making their own soda.

SodaStream makes every variety of soda flavor (diet and regular) that you can find at the grocery store. And since they come as concentrate, you add the water, you once again are keeping the packing down. Between the MyWater Essence, regular, teas, lemonade, diet and energy drink mixes you've got everything that you would find at the store without all the plastic bottles.
