An Eco Friendly Lunch Box Review & Giveaway

Last month I entered a giveaway on Healing with Raw Juices for a set of containers and a carrying case from EasyLunchBoxes.com. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to enter the giveaway because even though the plastic is BPA, PVC, phalate, vinyl and lead free, it’s still plastic. But the thing is, in this family everyone takes their lunch either to school or to work and taking glass containers just isn’t that easy.

Also, whenever we go places we always take own food with us. This is partly because eating at places like the zoo or the fair is just way too expensive and partly because it’s really hard for me to eat out anywhere. So since we don’t use plastic baggies we load up glass containers, and as Todd can tell you, those things are darn heavy.

So I thought, I could definitely see these being useful and went ahead and entered. Well, I ended up winning. Then when Kelly (the creator of the EasyLunchbox system) saw my email address she decided to check out my site and long story short, asked if I’d like to do a giveaway on my site. Well you know I’m a sucker for a mom run company so I happily agreed.

When Dylan saw these he got so excited, he said, "Oh, Lunchables! I see these, there's one thing in here and you make your own pizza. And in here there's candy!" Sheesh.

I told him that he may see pizza in it but there will definitely not be candy in there.

Anyways, what I like about these containers is that they have 3 separate compartments to put food into. It makes putting a lunch together quite easy, there’s no looking for matching lids or trying to fit a bunch of containers into one bag.



Even the carrying bags are PVC, vinyl and lead free, which is pretty cool and not something I'd thought about before. I also love how nice and roomy they are. You can fit a few containers or one container plus a water bottle or a container, water bottle and a few extra snacks.



EasyLunchBoxes are made with #5 plastic, which isn’t recyclable through most curbside pick-ups. You can still recycle them though by dropping them off at your local Whole Foods or mailing them to Preserve. This can obviously be done with any #5 plastic, something I just learned.

Ok, so these babies help make a waste free lunch, don’t contain nasty chemicals like BPA and PVC, can be recycled (with a little effort) and are super light weight. Seems like a pretty green lunch box to me. The only thing that would make them better would be if they were made from recycled plastic.
