And The Gardening Continues
First off, I’m happy to report that the re-planted tomatoes and peppers are doing fabulously up at my grandparents house. I think it’s because just days after planting them it shot up into the 80’s. When we planted them this time, my grandma said that the tomatoes would need heat and sun to do well, well they’re getting it.
The kale is just going crazy so grandma and I decided to cut some and add it to the roasted vegetable pasta that we were making for dinner Saturday night. She had bought eggplant, tomatoes, garlic and onions that she chopped up (plus the kale), then we added a can of chick peas, a tbsp of olive oil, a tsp of basil to them in a roasting dish, cooked for 20 minutes stirring every 5 minutes and then added a tbsp of red wine vinegar when it was done. Oh. My. Heck. It was so good. She and I both agree that next time we’ll add more kale, it cooks down quite a bit.
Also, the peas have little buds on them so we should have some peas pretty soon.
The strawberries have also started to bud again, which is great because I was starting to worry that they had died.
I forgot to get a picture of it, but because of all the rain that we got right after we planted some of our carrots they've, well, migrated a bit. So now there are little carrots growing through out the second garden bed, it’s kind of funny actually.
Everything is doing really well here in our patio garden as well. The pole beans are climbing away, we’ve made salad with our lettuce a few times and it continues to grow back just as tastily and the tomato and peppers are still doing really well. Oh, that little one that needs to be potted is a chile pepper, it was supposed to be a bell pepper, but it's not.

Once again I'm think about composting now that the gardens are doing well and yeah, I still need to look into rain barrels as well. I’m trying to decide if I want to give it another go with the automatic composter we have or just try something different. Mike over at the Urban Organic Gardener is having a giveaway for a tumbling composter, so naturally I entered. Hmmm…maybe I could review a composter and then do a giveaway for it.
Well anyways, that’s how my garden’s growing and if you have time stop by Feet Off the Table for more gardening goodness.

We're looking into a rain barrel too. Shane says he can make one.
So yeah...I'm looking into BUYING a rain barrel. LOL!
Garden looks great!!!!!
That recipe sounds wonderful! I love taking veggies from the garden and planning a whole meal around them.
We have a composter that my husband made out of a big plastic barrel. He mounted it to a stand and put a metal pipe through the middle to rotate on. It works most of the year but when it freezes it's almost impossible to turn. Same when it gets too full. We need to figure out something better but it works for now. The ones I've seen for sale are way too expensive for my taste.
thanks for the update. my peas have buds too, i was so excited!
Lovely. I adore gardens. So peaceful and yet revolutionary. ;-)
Enjoy.
That roasted veggie pasta does sound good! I love watching your garden grow, the strawberries are such a pretty plant:)
Wow, garden is looking great. And we know too well about migrating carrots! lol! It's been so wet here that I think we're giving up on tomatoes this year. ;( We'll see though. Hope yours continue to flourish!
