My Not So Green Garden
First off I have to say, happy birthday Dylan!! He turns 6 today and just got his first kitten. Her name is Amy and the boys are just over the moon about her. The dogs would very much like to meet her too, but we’re taking it slow.
Ok, now onto how the patio garden is doing. Two words; not well. Last week my dad was here, we were gone a lot and it was really hot. Not a good combination. And I don’t have any idea how the garden at my grandparents is doing because I haven’t been up there in so long. Ugh.
So here’s how everything looks. The strawberries seemed to finally be being left alone by the birds and then this, great. I don’t think we’re ever going to get strawberries off that plant.
The pole beans look awful and I just noticed these shriveled up beans on it.
Mmmm...tasty.

The tomato, which is getting plenty of hot weather just like it's supposed to, still doesn't look too good. This probably has something to do with the lack of water it’s been getting this week.
I do however have another pepper growing and it actually looks quite good. Yay!
I’m hoping that with some fertilizer, regular watering and the slightly less hot temps we’re supposed to have this week that they all might bounce back. What can I say, I’m an optimist.

Oh no! My planters are pretty fried by now too but at least for me it's only flowers.
That photo with the kitty is too cute! Happy Birthday to Dylan!
Planters are so hard to keep hydrated. Hope this week cools off for you.
I'm suddenly humming the tune from the Adamms Family, LOL! Hopefully they'll perk up!
Happy birthday to Dylan! Your cat looks an awful lot like my cat (blurriness and all) :)
Happy Birthday Dylan! How cute that he got a kitty! She's pretty.
Wishing Dylan a very happy birthday! What a special present Amy is:)
I just don't know about gardens...something is eating up all my herbs!
Hope Dylan had a great birthday! My son would love to have a kitty.
I think you'd be surprised... a few of my containers looked like yours when we left for NorCal but I was able to revive them upon returning, thank goodness. Your baby pepper looks good! yum!
Love the garden pics...but the story you told me about NOT eating something just to make others more "comfortable" with your choices or make them less insecure about their own....WONDERFUL! It's taken me 3 decades to fully embrace that. And the past 5 or so of being hardcore about not eating my food allergens gave me the excuse if you will, to tell ppl, thanks but no thanks. However, it's great when I can just say NO. Without having an "excuse" and i do that now! Finally!
Your anchor tat...can't wait to see/hear more!
Great comments today, thank you :)
Happy birthday to Dylan :)
It's really hard to keep containers from drying out even with constant surveillance. They may perk up though, with some water and cooler weather. Also, because they're annuals, they can simply be done and have started dying back. My container tomatoes are at this stage even though they didn't produce much.
A belated, but heartfelt, ♫ Happy Birthday ♫ to the Birthday Boy! Amy looks like a beautiful Calico.
Container gardens are temperamental. Give them some TLC (and water) this week and see if they don't just perk up. Optimism is good!
Again, I can relate! Gardens are tricky but here our weather has been so-so (or less than) which has caused our garden to struggle (I'm doing an update soon too). However, things have perked up and like you we have a pepper! It's hard gardening in the summer (when most things grow) when you're out doing other things! aye aye aye. Oh well. I certainly hope things start to perk up for your garden. :) Like EM said, a little TLC and they should be good to go. Pretty kitty! And happy birthday Dylan!
