Not The Day I Planned But It's The Day I Had

I just love setting plans for myself so when I don’t meet them I can feel all frustrated and stuff. This is obviously not the tattoo post I said I was going to have up today because I rarely write ahead of time and instead of working on that post this morning I was out running errands.

Last night I finally accepted that our new kitty Amy is not doing well with the cat food we bought. I bought the best one I could find at Target, but knew it wasn’t as good as it could be. I hoped it would be good enough and when it ran out I would go buy more. I won’t go into details, because I don’t want to have to remember it, but suffice it to say, she needed new food now.

I really like the dog food that Costco has and I know they carry puppy food so I figured they would have kitten food as well. Costco is about 25 minutes away in Folsom so I thought I’d hit Old Navy and check out they’re sales while I was down there. Yes, I do buy new sometimes as well as off ebay.

My plan was to leave early, be quick and be back early. Ahahahaha, woo, that was funny. *wipes tear away*

Yeah, so, I left an hour late and it was all downhill from there. Have you ever tried shopping with kids? Well don’t, that’s all I can say. I don’t know what it was today but they were especially unhappy about having to go out.

Old Navy actually went pretty well, but that was only stop one. Dylan had some birthday money and wanted to get a ninja pretend play set that he saw at CVS, but that’s back up by us so I told him when we were all done we would stop there. Yeah, have you ever told a kid with money burning a hole in his pocket that he had to wait to spend it? Again I say don’t.

There was a shoe store near Old Navy and I really need I new pair of sandals. I think even my feet lost weight when I went gluten, corn & soy-free, weird. I didn’t find anything I loved enough to spend money on though, very sad. I know I could find sandals on ebay, but I think shoes are really something you need to try on before buying. And used sandals that someone else’s feet have been in, that’s a bit too much for me.

So we finally make it over to Costco and guess what? They don’t have kitten food, just adult cat food. Of course. I went ahead and bought the adult cat food figuring it would still be better than what we have. When I got home I compared the protein, fat and such ratios, well it turns out there is a difference. Kitten food has higher protein and fat ratios than adult food. Great. Both of these are dry foods so I’m now wondering if I should just buy wet food. So confusing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

On the green side, the Costco in Folsom now has compost and recycling cans as well as regular garbage cans. The compost cans are right next to the food sample tables as well as up front. It was like little green rainbow in a cloud of crankiness.

So now we’re on our way home and to CVS and when we get there, guess what? No ninja pretend play set. Luckily they did have a police set that Dylan was willing to get, because you know there’s no waiting when you’re 6.

By the time we got home I was hungry, tired and my head hurt from remembering how much I love my boys even when they’re ultra cranky.

I did start the tattoo post but when I got half way through the second page (I type them in word before posting) and was only on number 5 of 13, I realized I needed to stop or I would cry. Oh yeah, that kind of day. But I’m doing much better now. ☺

So I still plan on doing the tattoo post but it may end up being 2 posts and I have no idea when. See leave it open, that way if it takes awhile no one’s waiting on it and if it gets done soon, well then yay!

Holy heck that was long! Hopefully you’re still there and if you are, how was you’re day?

Oh and the crankies have now turned into huggies. Being a mom is the best. Please pass the Kool-Aid. ☺

I was having one of those kind of days so I stopped and took a long nap. The planets must be out of alignment or something. When it doubt, blame it on something in outer space.

Yes you need to get kitten food, but if the stores are truly out, any food will be ok for a day or two. They say that wet food is better because cats don't drink enough. If she is to the thin side it could help her bulk up a bit more. But if she likes dry, then that is fine and much easier to maintain, not to mention less packaging.

Thanks for the picture of her. And I love her name. :-)

I call those my Lucy Moments and have them often. Usually by the end of the day I can laugh at it, h aha ha.

I know nothing of cats. Sorry.

Sorry to hear you had such a rough day. I think we have all had them at one time or another, and totally relate to this post! Glad the crankies turned into huggies in the end:)

Kittens do need kitten food because of the protien and fat that you already mentioned. But, as bitt said it won't hurt her for now either. Do you have any specialty pet food stores near you? Not chains but independent holistic types. That is the best way to get her a quality food. Wet is better than dry but more expensive. I think a combination of the two is a good balance. Amy is adorable by the way! Where did you get her? If you mentioned it somewhere I missed it.
