My Green Self
Who am I and why did I start this blog? Well, those are good questions.
I'm a girl who wanted to say "I did that". I wanted to say I did something that mattered, maybe not to everyone, but to someone.

That's how I was feeling back at the beginning of '09. Well, I had been feeling like that for awhile but that's when it really came to a head.
And then one day out of the blue I had this idea, it was like lightening struck my brain (Smee from Hook, love that movie). I thought I've been trying to live greener and am constantly bugging my family and friends about it, maybe there are more people I could bug as well. No wait, that's what my friends and family thought. ;)
I've always recycled, thanks to my Grandparents; I've always turned the lights off when I left a room, thanks to my dad; and I've always turned the water off when I brushed my teeth, thanks to the Cosby Show. And now I was branching out into the world of non-toxic cleaners and reusable bags. Yes, I am a crazy bag lady.

So I thought, I've always loved writing and am now just as passionate about being green (ok, light green but still), why not combine the two?
The other part of this that led to starting Easy Eco To Go was that being that I was a bit more on the light green side I didn't always feel that there was a place for me online. The sites I did come across generally were a bit darker green then I was and didn't quite give me the warm and fuzzy feeling I was looking for.

As much as I wanted to be green I didn't want to feel bad if I had an off day...or 3.
I figured there were other people like me who wanted to know what to do and how it worked for someone else, but also didn't want to feel like they weren't “green” just because they don't like recycled toilet paper (even though I swear it's not that bad).{Edit by Husband "don't listen to her folks"}
I wanted to make a site where I could talk about great green things to do and try. But always leave it up to you to decide if it worked in your life or if it was going to be something you filed away to try later.
So that's essentially how Easy Eco To Go was born. It's a place where I can share what I've learned, what I've tried and what I'm trying to do better. I may not get it right every time, but I do enjoy trying.
I still have to “choose” green everyday, it's still not second nature. And you know what, sometimes life gets in the way and I stray a little. Do I feel bad about it, no. Will I slip up again, yes. But that's life, choices. Sometimes the choice is stocking up on locally grown goodies at the farmers market and sometimes the choice is to go to Starbuck's for a Green Tea Frappuccino (Dylan's and my fave).
So yes, I'm green but I'm my own special shade and I hope you can find your own special shade of green too.
And while I wanted to start this endeavor to have something that was “mine” I wouldn't be me without my gooftastic boys Tyler and Dylan and my lovilicious hubby Todd.
